Microsoft today announced that Windows 11 Insider Preview early test build number 25987 has been released to the Canary channel. Starting with this build, Microsoft will no longer pre-install Windows Maps, Movies, and TV on Windows 11 computers.
Therefore, a clean installation of Windows 11 starting with build 25987 will not install these two programs on the computer. However, these two applications will remain available and continue to be updated through the Microsoft Store.
For now, this innovation is only available for early Windows Insider testers. Additionally, programs are removed only during a clean installation of the operating system, not during an update. It will take some time for the innovations to reach stable versions of Windows 11. Additionally, Microsoft may change its mind about promoting them outside of the testing program.
