Virgin Galactic will launch its fifth commercial suborbital spaceflight on Thursday as part of the Galactic 05 mission.
As reported by Ukrinform, the company reported this to: social networks H (formerly Twitter).
The Galactic 05 mission was launched from Spaceport “America” in New Mexico, USA, with the help of a support aircraft. Then the spacecraft will separate from the carrier and then it must rise to an altitude of 80-90 km on its own with the help of its engine.
The flight is expected to last about an hour. The ship’s passengers will be in weightlessness for several minutes and will be able to see Earth against the darkness of space. After that, the mission will return to Earth.
The VSS Unity team consists of Virgin Galactic’s Commander Michael Masucci, Pilot Kelly Latimer, and Astronaut Instructor Colin Bennett. Also on board are three commercial passengers, including American researchers Alan Stern and Kelly Gerardi, as well as an unnamed French-Italian citizen.
As Ukrinform reported, in early October Virgin Galactic flew its fourth commercial flight, sending four passengers into suborbital space and bringing them back to Earth.
