Genesis, a subsidiary of Hyundai, has added an electronic key option to its GV60 electric car. According to the company, the car can be unlocked using a Samsung smartphone and start the engine remotely. This feature is implemented using UWB – wireless communication technology over short distances at low energy consumption.
According to journalists, Genesis GV60 owners can start using the electronic key if they have a Samsung smartphone with UWB support. Such devices include Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and other flagship devices of the brand. You will need to create a digital key in Samsung Pass that you can share with other users.
Journalists stressed that the GV60 electric car is not the first car to support digital keys in Samsung phones. However, this is the first time this feature is implemented using UWB technology.
