The other day, we learned that Apple experts presented the first version of the mixed reality headset to the company’s board of directors. Now journalists from The Information have learned the details of the device.

The headset will reportedly receive 14 cameras to create realistic avatars of the owners. These avatars can convey human facial expressions. It was also known that the mixed reality gadget will be a completely standalone device, that is, it will not need to be connected to other Apple devices. Two chips will be installed in the headset at once: one – an analogue of the M2 brand, which is expected to become the basis of the MacBook Air and iPad in late 2022.

Journalists also learned that former Apple chief designer Johnny Ive was involved in the project. Especially helpful with battery placement, cameras and ergonomics. Mixed reality management will be done by hand tracking.

Earlier, Bloomberg wrote that they want to start selling the headset for $2,000 in 2023.
