The Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University has developed a drone that can detect sources of radiation pollution.
This was reported by Prague Radio, Ukrinform reported.
The RaDron drone is equipped with unique particle detectors, with which the search for even small sources of radiation emissions will be much more effective.
“What was specific in this case was that we were measuring the invisible. Usually, drones are equipped with classical cameras or the fleet of drones is transferred to their lidar (a technology for obtaining and processing information about distant objects using active optical systems that exploit the phenomenon of reflection of light and its scattering in transparent and translucent media – ed) .), used in autonomous vehicles. These are all very readable data. But when we measure radiation that is invisible to the human eye, this requires a special approach,” said Tomasz Bacha, a member of the development team.
The drone is completely autonomous and can be used in hard-to-reach areas, long distances, and in situations where visibility is insufficient.
According to Ukrinform, American drone manufacturer Skydio introduced the new Skydio X10 drone with new artificial intelligence capabilities.
