NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope and the Chandra X-ray Observatory joined forces last year to make an observation that will help astronomers.
Two space telescopes used a technique called gravitational lensing to magnify the region of space where the UHZ1 galaxy and its black hole are located.
It is stated that the black hole formed only 470 million years after the Big Bang. Considering that the universe is 13.7 billion years old, the age of this black hole is 13.2 billion years.
Scientists were even more amazed by the enormous size of this black hole. It is 10 times larger than the black hole in our Milky Way galaxy.
According to astronomers, it weighs between 10% and 100% of the mass of all the stars in its galaxy.
Researchers also believe that the black hole is formed from huge clouds of gas that collapse in a galaxy located next to a galaxy containing stars. As a result, the two galaxies merged and the black hole “blew up”.
As reported by Ukrinform, an international research group, the first evidence that the black hole at the center of the M87 galaxy rotates was obtained as a result of analysis of images obtained as a result of more than 20 years of observations.
