The GPT-4 Great language model gets a turbo. OpenAI introduces an improved version of the LLM with better memory and more up-to-date knowledge. GPT-4 Turbo was trained on more recent data and therefore has extensive knowledge of the world up to the events of April 2023. The previous version only lasted until September 2021. GPT-4 can surf the Internet in search of current information, but it does not belong to the training data set.
GPT-4 Turbo not only knows more, it can also remember more. The length of the prompts increases, meaning the model can remember more words in a conversation and incorporate them into its answers. The model can now remember more than one book of data, so you won’t reach your limits anytime soon.
OpenAI also reports that GPT-4 Turbo can process images as prompts. For example, you can display an image and request a caption or description.
GPT-4 Turbo is currently in preview. It is still unclear when OpenAI will provide wider availability. Additionally, you can expect the new LLM to initially be available exclusively to paying ChatGPT customers.
