Paid subscription to Instagram and Facebook is here. We knew it was coming, but now Meta is sending messages to its users on both iOS and Android to warn them about it. There is a way to get rid of ads on Instagram. And as we know, this will be through monthly payments.

This has nothing to do with the European Union’s ultimatum for social networks to change the way they display ads to users, as this is something we can change from our account preferences, but instead a subscription to stop seeing ads directly. Of course, there are a few elements we need to take into account because it will be more expensive depending on how we pay.

Stopping seeing ads on Instagram costs the same as subscribing to Netflix

Social media has been “free” for years. But, When something is free it turns out it isn’t.: Your personal data is currency. This is a known issue but not everyone pays the necessary attention.

These networks slowly realized that they wanted more money, and we started to see subscriptions. excitement X has certain benefits for those who pay. In the case of X, this is a payment for certain improvements in terms such as longer messages, larger videos and other services. In the case of Instagram and Facebook, subscription will end ads.

And that’s it, Meta started showing subscription notification on its platform with the claim “Do you want to subscribe or continue using our free products with ads?” With this message, the social network tells us what its new action plans are.

One of these is what we have so far: Almost more advertising than feeds on both Facebook and Instagram, with the possibility of showing us personalized ads (taking into account our preferences) or non-discriminatory ads of any kind, if we prefer more privacy for our data.

The other is subscription. We can now use our Facebook and Instagram accounts without ads for 12.99 euros per month, and Meta also claims that our information will not be collected for advertising purposes. This is very interesting because if we pay money it is definitely to avoid seeing ads.

But let’s say this, there is a difference depending on how we pay:

  • From the Instagram or Facebook application on Android, Monthly fee 12.99 euros.
  • If payments are made directly to Meta (e.g. via the web), price 9.99 euros.

The reason for this is, When paying from the app, Google takes a percentage of what Meta determines users assume.. Therefore, if you want to subscribe to Instagram without ads, it is more advisable to make the payment directly to Meta via the Facebook or Instagram website (and you can do this from your mobile browser as well as from a PC).

Now you may be going into the app to see what’s going on and find nothing. because this Displaying meta notifications. In the editorial office, they appeared on some mobile phones both on iOS and Android, but on others we still did not receive this notification.

It also does not appear in the Meta account center or in the subscriptions section in ‘Settings & privacy’ and ‘Orders & payments’. As we said, this is something that is in full deployment, so don’t worry if it hasn’t been released yet because it will be available to all users soon.
