The latest data from research company TrendForce points to significant changes in Apple’s iPad Pro series. The tech giant is reportedly planning to end production of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a mini LED display by 2024, paving the way for a new version with a 13-inch OLED display next year.

This move marks a strategic departure, as the 12.9-inch iPad Pro will no longer be part of Apple’s product lineup after 2024. Instead, the company aims to use a very thin hybrid OLED display that combines flexible and rigid materials. This innovation is expected to make the next generation iPad Pro significantly thinner and lighter compared to previous generations.

The transition to OLED technology promises many improvements. In particular, the new iPad Pro is expected to have higher brightness, improved contrast, superior color accuracy and lower power consumption compared to existing models equipped with LCD panels.

While current iPad Pro models already support ProMotion technology, which allows you to change the refresh rate from 24Hz to 120Hz, the OLED models are said to go a step further. Newer devices may have a lower refresh rate limit; maybe it can drop to 10Hz or even lower. This tweak not only improves performance but also has the potential to increase the battery life of the device.

This strategic shift to OLED displays in the iPad Pro series underscores Apple’s commitment to innovation and pushes the boundaries of technology to deliver an even more immersive and efficient user experience.
