Extreme Networks Zero Trust

Extreme Networks now secures its ExtremeCloud network with Zero Trust. This is intended to ensure secure access to networks, applications and devices, regardless of where access is sought.

Extreme Networks announces the launch of ExtremeCloud Universal ZTNA with a press release. As befits the security industry, Extreme Networks likes to praise itself. Bold (but also questionable) statements that the Zero Trust solution is a “new standard for secure network access” cannot be avoided.

One for all

Specifically, Extreme Cloud Universal ZTNA has three advantages, with the word “universal” already revealing many of Extreme Networks’ intentions. The network equipment manufacturer wants to eliminate point solutions for network security. Instead of placing a single gatekeeper at each access point, Universal ZTNA allows you to establish a consistent zero trust policy across the entire network and all connected applications. This results in easier management, faster implementation and greater cost efficiency.

All for one

CTO Nabil Bukhari calls the new solution “the result of various initiatives” within Extreme. “In this day and age of increasing cyber threats, fewer IT resources, and networks spanning multiple environments, a secure foundation as a starting point for all other technologies is a prerequisite for uninterrupted business operations.” Universal ZTNA provides customers with a foundation for Security everywhereso that all users can securely access any application from any device, anywhere,” said Bukhari.

Extreme Networks will offer Universal ZTNA in subscription form beginning in early 2024. The subscription cost depends on the number of users on the network.
