Although Samsung isn’t one of the tech companies we think of when we talk about artificial intelligence, it seems that the Korean giant intends to change our opinion

Although Samsung isn’t one of the tech companies we think of when we talk about artificial intelligence, it seems that the Korean giant intends to change our opinion in the near future. I’m talking about objectivity, of course, because in general and as the saying goes “there is a long way from talk to action”, this means that it is one thing for us to plan something and another thing is to be able to do something that grows proportionally depending on the difficulty of the set goal .

In this case, if we talk about the difficulty, it is obvious that We are talking about a very complex challenge., as the ecosystem of services based on artificial intelligence has not stopped growing over the past year. Now, we must not forget that Samsung has an asset that plays to its liking, and that is the ability to use all its devices to focus on the various services that make up the Samsung Gauss offer.

But let’s start from the beginning. As we can read in TechCrunch, Samsung announced Samsung Gauss, a three-tool generative AI model Main: Samsung Gauss Language, Samsung Gauss Code and Samsung Gauss Image. For now, yes, only its existence was announced and that it will reach users later, without specifying dates, prices, markets, devices, etc. Currently, these models are being tested with company employees, and a special team dedicated exclusively to identification of possible problems with generated content.

Samsung Gauss, three generative models from Samsung

Based on their names, you probably already imagined the main function of each of the three tools above, but if not, they are as follows:

  • Samsung Gauss language: This is an LLM, that is, a large language model that can offer conversational features (chatbot) but also others similar to those we have seen for example announced by Google and Microsoft for their productivity suites.
  • Samsung Gauss Code: Creating programming code is another use of AI that has become very popular in the last year. However, Samsung didn’t say what language or languages it’s compatible with.
  • Samsung Gauss image: of course there are no two without three, so Samsung’s proposal is supplemented by an image-generating model. A model that the company says can be used to create images from scratch, but also to modify existing images.

So we’re talking about a proposal that focuses on three areas where many other services already exist, but also where the usefulness of these tools has been quite proven, so we’re facing a somewhat conservative bet, but if it manages to tap into the brand’s ecosystem, it can end up a success. It’s not easy because the competition is tough, but Samsung has what it takes, so the key will be in the quality of the outputs of the three models.
