Samsung said its technology, called Samsung Gauss, is designed to bring artificial intelligence to devices. The company said its new AI model was named after Carl Friedrich Gauss, “the legendary mathematician who created the theory of normal distribution, which is the basis of machine learning and artificial intelligence.”

Samsung’s Gaussian Language is said to be a generative language model that can aid in email creation and content translation, as well as “improve the consumer experience by enabling smarter device management when integrated into products.” Additionally, the technology allows in-house software developers to quickly write code and create or edit images.

“Samsung Gauss is currently used to increase employee productivity, but will be expanded to various Samsung product applications in the near future,” the press release said.

Samsung may be one of the first phone manufacturers in the world to use generative AI in its devices. Daniel Araujo, Samsung’s vice president of mobile business, said the generative AI technology will likely be available to customers next year.

According to Ukrinform, German industrial giant Siemens, together with Microsoft Corporation, has developed an assistant based on artificial intelligence to improve cooperation between people and machines in production.
