The president Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, called Mexico take a position of condemnation against Russia for the war that their country is going through, and provide them with support in the military conflict.
“We Ukrainians would like to see a clear position of the Mexican government regarding terrorist actions,” he said this Wednesday during a virtual conservatory organized by Mexican universities.beroamericana, Tecnológico de Monterrey and Anáhuac, together with the Embassy of Ukraine in Mexico.
“We want to see Mexico among the countries that not only verbally condemn Russian aggression, but also among those who help resist and survive“, he repeated.
The Ukrainian president asked for solidarity from both Mexican representatives and civil society to condemn Russia for the war that has unfolded in Ukraine since the end of February 2022.
“We know that Mexico is a neutral country that respects the principle of difference in the issues of other countries, but neutrality does not mean indifference,” he stressed.
“I am sure that a power with such a global projection today cannot remain aloof from the crimes and unjustified war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine,” he added.
Zelensky argued that Mexico could support his country through “humanitarian initiatives,” so he invited the country to join the Grain from Ukraine program and also take part in a peace summit on November 25.
In addition, he called for putting pressure on Russia and supporting Ukraine in the face of United Nations. Finally, he invited the country to offer a place where they could discuss the misinformation that was spreading around the war.
Finally, he reiterated that “world support is very important” for a diplomatic end to the war.
