Microsoft won’t let OneDrive shut down until the user explains why

Last month, Microsoft made it even more difficult to download Google Chrome via Edge by adding a survey of reasons for not wanting to use the software giant’s browser. It is now known that before turning off OneDrive cloud storage, users must answer the question of why they want to do this.

According to network sources, a recent OneDrive update added an annoying feature to the app. This is a dialog box that appears when you try to close OneDrive. It offers the user the possibility to choose the reason for closing the program, and it is probably not possible to refuse it. As for the options you can choose from, they look like this:

  • I don’t want OneDrive to be running all the time.
  • I don’t know what OneDrive is.
  • I don’t use OneDrive.
  • I’m trying to troubleshoot an issue with OneDrive.
  • I’m trying to speed up my computer.
  • I’m getting a lot of messages.
  • Other.

Since closing the dialog box and exiting OneDrive will not work, the user must choose one of the suggested options.

This isn’t the first year Microsoft has actively promoted OneDrive cloud storage. For example, in Windows 11, the contents of the “Documents” and “Images” folders are synced with the software giant’s cloud storage by default. If you haven’t set up OneDrive, Windows has many tips on how to do this. Source
