London-based startup Lyte Aviation has unveiled its SkyBus vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) “airbus” design.
This was reported by New Atlas, according to Ukrinform.
The SkyBus is designed to carry 44 passengers, the company said. The maximum speed will not exceed 300 km/h. The “airbus” will be able to travel more than 1000 kilometers.
Lyte says the machine has turboprop engines and will run on conventional or environmentally friendly jet fuel.
At the same time, the startup has the goal of converting the aircraft to a hydrogen-electric engine once the technology is proven and becomes widely available.
The company hopes to build a full-scale SkyBus prototype by 2024. It is expected to be ready for flights in 2025.
The startup also announced that it made an agreement with the Indian company Vman Aviation Services for the pre-order of 10 SkyBus aircraft worth 400 million euros.
As Ukrinform reported, the company Archer Aviation successfully carried out the first flight of its prototype air taxi with vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) at midnight.
