There is a new privacy feature for WhatsApp. If you want, you can now protect your IP address in the app during a call.

Meta and privacy are not always a combination that produces positive news, but this time it is. There is now a new function in WhatsApp that allows you to protect your IP address in the app when making calls.

Messages on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted, which is still one of the platform’s more attractive features. With this new feature, parent company Meta is adding a new level of privacy.

Group conversations are already routed via WhatsApp’s servers by default, this now also applies to individual conversations. In this way, your IP address remains hidden from the person you are talking to.

You have to activate this function yourself:

• Go over the familiar three dots in the top right Institutions
• Click privacy At
• Go to Progressive
• Activate the function using the slider

However, WhatsApp warns that a call made via its servers could be of poor quality. The platform also emphasizes that thanks to encryption, no one can listen to your conversations, not even WhatsApp itself.

It is the umpteenth upgrade that Meta has recently introduced for its popular communication app. For example, last month saw the introduction of voice messages that you can only listen to once. There were also rumors about a calendar function that could be used to plan events.
