In August, Zoom introduced the new Zoom Clips feature. This option to record and share videos directly via the platform is now available to (almost) all users after the beta version.

Last summer, Zoom launched its new Zoom Clips feature, but it was still in beta at the time. However, the video function is now generally available. Clips allows users to record videos directly and play them back in Zoom. This is not the first time, as competitor Slack has had a similar function for several years.

Practical

Zoom Clips allows users to record, edit and share short videos directly on the platform. This can be done both internally and externally and you can specify who can view it. Clips are stored in a central content management system with an easy search function.

Anyone with access to a video can leave a comment or simply reply with an emoji. The creator of a clip can then see how many views there are.

The purpose of Zoom Clips is primarily to reduce the number of meetings, an explanation can be easily recorded and shared. This way, everyone involved can view it whenever he or she has time. This can be useful, for example, for companies that operate internationally and always have to take different time zones into account during video conferences.

Not quite general

Zoom Clips Plus is now available to Zoom One subscribers at no additional cost. Most other account plans, such as B. Zoom One Basic, have access to Clips Basic:

• Record up to five clips
• Videos no longer than two minutes
• Ability to purchase Clips Plus for $6.99 per month (starting in December)

Users with a Zoom United license are out of luck, Zoom Clips isn’t an option for them.
