Windows 11 Copilot

Windows 10 users don’t seem to be excluded from the AI fun after all. Microsoft also plans to roll out its Copilot on Windows 10.

Windows Copilot arrived in Windows 11 with the 23H2 update at the end of September, although the AI assistant is still somewhat hidden for European users. Microsoft is still having trouble getting permission under the European Digital Markets Act, and then putting the Copilot icon on the taskbar wouldn’t be so subtle. According to Windows Central sources, Microsoft now wants to bring Copilot to Windows 10.

This sounds like a notable move because Microsoft wants Windows 10 users to switch to Windows 11 and has previously announced that it will no longer introduce new features. However, Microsoft has found that Windows 10’s user base remains extremely loyal to the operating system. At the end of September, the adoption rate for Windows 11 was still less than 25 percent, compared to seventy percent for Windows 10.

1 billion additional users

Approval of Windows Copilot on Windows 10 would significantly increase the AI assistant’s potential user base in one fell swoop, which in turn would benefit Microsoft’s selling point. 400 million users or more than 1 billion users, that makes a big difference. The version of Windows 10 would also be completely the same as in Windows 11.

We keep our fingers crossed. Windows Central has this news from “reliable sources,” but it has not yet been officially confirmed by Microsoft. The same sources also claim that Microsoft is internally reviewing the Windows 10 support schedule. Normally it would expire in October 2025. Microsoft may not have plans to let Windows 10 fade into obscurity just yet.

Copilot has also been available for Microsoft 365 applications since November 1st. In order to use this AI assistant, you must have sufficient staff and, above all, a significantly expanded bank account.
