Replying to an email from the Gmail mobile app just got easier. Not that it was that difficult. Google is currently testing a new design and it seems that the interface is moving more and more towards chat. The new design was spotted by Android Police.
Users of the Gmail app may have noticed that you can now easily “reply” an email with an emoji. Other Gmail users will then immediately see your reply in the original email, and all recipients with a different provider will receive it in a new message.
Now Google is taking the further development of its app into a chat system one step further. The company is testing a new interface that lets you instantly reply to an email with one click. So no separate window opens anymore.
Instead of the three buttons (Reply, Reply All or Forward), there is now a chat-like box at the bottom of the email. You choose one of the three options and can add an attachment immediately. With one press of the Send button, your email will be sent without the need for an additional window.
The rollout is currently very limited. We installed the latest update but still had those time-wasting three buttons at the bottom of our messages in the Gmail app.
It seems that Google is seriously shaking up its mail system. For example, the mobile app can now translate emails into Dutch on request. Of course, AI should not be missing; you will soon be able to have your emails created by the app itself.
