Attack on Boeing: Hackers follow up with threats after company refuses to pay ransom

Lockbit, known for using its eponymous ransomware to compromise and restrict access to data, said in October: Successfully infiltrated Boeing systems and gained access to significant amounts of classified information. According to Reuters, most of the leaked files date back to the end of October.

How did Boeing react?

Company Boeing admits security breach, announced that this has affected its spare parts distribution and sales business. The company emphasized that the incident would not affect flight safety. However, Boeing declined to comment on whether Lockbit had accessed defense or other classified data.

In an official statement, a representative of Boeing noted:

We are aware that in connection with this incident, an attacker demanding a ransom published information allegedly obtained from our systems.

The company assured stakeholders that the investigation into the matter is ongoing and promised to cooperate with law enforcement, regulators and potentially affected parties.

Considered one of the most experienced organized crime groups in cyberspace, Lockbit has extensive experience attacking organizations. According to the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Lockbit has carried out cyber attacks. 1,700 organizations in the United States.
