The Google search engine collects data about users who use private browsing. This was expressed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (Ken Paxton), who filed a lawsuit against Alphabet. In January of this year, lawsuits were filed by the states of Texas, Indiana, Washington, and the District of Columbia. They said that Google is violating users’ privacy and tracking their location. The Texas prosecutor has now expanded its claims against the search giant by adding Google’s incognito mode to the case.
According to Paxton, this feature initially assumes that Google will not track search history or any other user activity on the Internet, including geolocation. The lawsuit claims that users enable incognito mode when they don’t want to share their personal information, but in fact, Google continues to collect data fraudulently. Google said Paxton’s statement was “based on false statements and outdated ideas about our settings.” The company categorically denies these allegations and plans to defend its position in court.
Meanwhile, Ken Paxton has filed accusations against Google before. He claimed that the company misled users by continuing to track their location even if they banned it. According to him, Google has a “Location History” section where you can disable geolocation tracking, but the company informs users that if you disable it, not all places visited will be recorded.
