AMD launches the Radeon Pro W7700: a new GPU from the previously introduced W7000 series tailored for workstations. The line-up now includes three tickets, of which this is by far the cheapest.

AMD introduces the Radeon pro W7700. This is a new graphics card in the W7000 series. AMD launched it earlier this year with the Pro W7900 and Pro W7800. Both GPUs were powerhouses with corresponding prices of $3,999 and $2,499 respectively; The new Radeon Pro W7700 is significantly cheaper with a recommended retail price of $999.

You still get a decent card for the money. The GPU features 48 compute units, 96 AI accelerators and 16GB of GDDR6 (EEC) memory with an associated bandwidth of 576GB/s. According to AMD, with a TDP of 190 watts, this information is enough for 28 TFLOPS (FP32). As for the GPU, AMD sets the price, noting that its chip is the most powerful custom workstation chip under $1,000. The thing is intended for content creation, CAD or (slightly lighter) AI work.

Less for less

Like the other cards in the Radeon Pro W7000 range, this GPU is based on RDNA 3, but it is clear that the implementation is much simpler. The previously introduced cards had 96 and 70 CUs, with 48GB and 32GB of GDDR6 memory. Not everyone needs such volumes, and AMD expects a more modest card with a more modest price point to be met with enthusiasm.
