Meta introduces a new option for live group conversations in WhatsApp. From now on, you choose to join the conversation without an effective call.
Soon you will no longer receive an active call during a group conversation on WhatsApp. In large groups, someone can discreetly start a conversation and you can then choose to join.
The new feature is currently specific to groups with at least 33 participants, with a limit of 128 accounts per conversation. You can start a conversation by clicking the chat icon in the top right.
Other group members receive a push notification and can choose whether they want to join. You can do this by clicking on the conversation in the chat. Those who don’t join the conversation can still chat with those who do. You can also easily mute or unmute yourself during the conversation to join the conversation.
Below you can see who is participating in the group conversation. This ends when everyone has left the chat (via Xing) or when no one has joined the last participant after an hour.
You can use WhatsApp on multiple devices, but this feature only applies to your primary device. Meta will roll it out on Android and iOS in the coming weeks. After the security update, another new feature of the app is that it protects your IP address during calls and offers the ability to schedule events.
