A classic 1962 Ferrari 330 LM/250 GTO sold for a record $51.7 million at Sotheby’s in New York.

This was reported by Bloomberg, as reported by Ukrinform.

It was the most expensive Ferrari ever sold at auction and the most expensive classic car sold publicly anywhere in the world this year.

Jim Jaeger, a well-known collector from Ohio and co-founder of the Escort radar company, owned the car for almost four decades before selling it.

A spokesman for Sotheby’s auction house did not name the new owner of the auction house.

The final price of the 1962 Ferrari 330 LM/250 GTO is said to be $47 million, but a 10 percent buyer’s premium increased the total lot price to $51.7 million.

Despite the record, the final sales price was lower than expected. A few days before the sale, Sotheby’s said the car was still worth “more than” $60 million.

The car sold in less than 20 minutes.

It is worth noting that the most expensive car ever sold at auction is the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe. He was paid $142 million in 2022.

As Ukrinform reports, a map of the evening menu of the sunken ship “Titanic” was sold at the Henry Aldridge & Son auction in Devizes in the British county of Wiltshire.
