Samsung introduced the T5 EVO SSD, an external storage solution that committed mobility and high capacity. We told you about it a few days ago and it’s exactly what we expected.
You already know that the benefits of NAND flash memory units that we enjoy in PC internal storage have been transferred to external solutions and the industry offers a very interesting proposition for consumers and professionals who need to store data and move it anywhere. Samsung had a good product catalog with the T7 series and the (performance superlative) T9.
Now add more to your collectionwith lower performance but large capacity and moderate cost per GB, as Hangu Sohn, vice president of the memory brand product business team at Samsung Electronics, stated:
“For consumers looking for a replacement for traditional hard drives, T5 EVO is an innovative new external storage that offers the highest capacity available along with speed and durability in a compact design that fits in the palm of your hand ».
Samsung’s new unit is made of polycarbonate, so it’s not a dedicated resistive unit like the “T7 Shield”. But it has a metal ring, which the rest of the series does not have, which makes it easier to transport. All the more thanks to the low weight, 102 grams, and the dimensions included in the 95 x 40 x 17 millimeters.
The unit connects to the interface USB 3.2 Gen 1, which limits its maximum read/write speed to 460 Mbytes per second. That’s half of what the T7 achieves and four times less than the T9’s maximum, but it’s good enough for an external drive where mobility and capacity are more important.
Samsung SSD supports 256-bit hardware data encryption AES standard and features thermal protection technology that provides users with protection from overheating and maintains optimal operating temperatures. It also includes Samsung Magician software, which provides a full set of management features. including real-time disk health checks, performance tests and firmware updates.
Samsung sells the T5 EVO SSD with a three-year warranty and the following capacities and prices:
