Ballantine’s reinforces its commitment to video games with Moxxi’s Bar Edition 2.0

The Borderlands franchise is one of the most popular in its genre, a success that has not gone unnoticed by a very curious sponsor, the whiskey brand Ballantine’s. Last year, it agreed with the owners of the franchise to launch a limited edition of its whiskey using the image of Mad Moxxi, one of the most popular characters of the franchise, and today it confirmed the renewal of the said whiskey launch agreement. Moxxi’s Bar Edition 2.0.

This is a minor revision of the original bottle that generally repeats the approach of that one. We have a Ballantine’s whiskey bottle decorated with a special design inspired by Borderlands and Moxxi, which is sure to delight fans of the franchise. This is not the first time that the brand has participated in the world of video games closed sponsorship with Tundra Esports, DOTA 2 team, and participated the tenth anniversary of the CS:GO Majors in Paris.

Moxxi's Bar Edition 2

As a result of these sponsorships, the brand also launched a special edition of its whiskey with a design inspired by DOTA 2, although they never made it to the Spanish market. Their distribution was much more limited, and this of course gives them more value as a collector’s item, which ultimately drives interest in these type of editions.

A new bottle inspired by Borderlands 3 is launched as a limited editionand as we said before, it implements Moxxi’s exclusive Bar Edition 2.0 design. It also comes with a QR code that we can use to get a new design for the Echo device in Borderlands 3. Its price is 16.93 eurosand can be purchased on Amazon. On the back of the bottle is a QR code to get the new Echo design.

It is interesting to see how some of the most important brands in the food and beverage sector are increasingly betting on cooperation with the world of video games and using virtual characters, like Moxxi in this case, to serve as an image for some of its most important products. There is no doubt that it also says a lot about the weight that video games have today and the “fame” that their protagonists can achieve.
