As expected, ASUS ROG Phone 8 Ultimate is starting to take shape as the successor to the ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate, a smartphone player with impressive functions and a spectacular aesthetic design. A future model is expected to follow the same path, but almost no details are known about it at the moment, except one related to battery charging due to China’s 3C certification process.
An aspect that is known about the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Ultimate is that it will support fast charging 65 wattswhich is at least similar to what the current generation of smartphones supports and suggests a predictable Qualcomm SoC implementation.
The Ultimate aims to be one of the three members of the ASUS ROG Phone 8 series, possibly supplemented by standard/basic and Pro models. At the function level Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to be implemented as the SoC, which makes sense if we see that the current generation includes Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 5G support. Being a device oriented towards local execution of heavy video games, quantity RAM would not go below 16GB at least on the Ultimate model, while the base operating system should be Android 14.

We remember that the ASUS ROG Phone 7 Ultimate began to be launched in the current 2023, so its successor should appear during the first half of 2024 to give space for the current generation to exhaust itself in commercial terms and begin to induce the feeling of being “old”.
Although only 65W fast charging support could still be confirmed, it would be surprising if ASUS didn’t launch a range of smartphones for playing games with impressive features, not only in terms of performance and capacity, but also in aspects such as and standard certification for resistance to dust and splashing water.
Of course, the alleged impressive features of the future ASUS ROG Phone 8 Ultimate will almost certainly mean that it will cost well over €1,000, as the current generation cost €1,429 at launch. On the other hand, smartphones aimed at playing games It’s a small niche mainly because heavy triple-A titles don’t tend to be thrown around too much on mobile, so the catalog that could take advantage of them isn’t particularly wide.
