On November 16, China launched a new generation satellite into space to monitor the color of the ocean, which will significantly expand the possibilities of researching the processes occurring in sea water.
This was reported by Xinhua, according to Ukrinform’s report.
The Long March-2C launch vehicle successfully launched the spacecraft into the planned Earth orbit at 11:55 local time (05:45 Kiev time) from the Jiuquan Cosmodrome in northwestern China.
The announcement did not mention the name of the device, but it was stated that it is the world’s first high-precision ocean color observation satellite, which analyzes the condition of various water bodies and sea areas around the world using a variety of advanced techniques and equipment.
It can perform large-scale, continuous and dynamic monitoring of water color, temperature, sea ice, suspended solids and aquatic ecology in oceans, seas, islands and ports around the world.
The China National Space Administration Earth Observation Center said the satellite will provide remote sensing services for China’s major sea lanes and will also contribute to more efficient use of fishing resources and monitoring marine pollution levels.
Today’s launch was the 497th mission in the Long March series of liquid-fueled three-stage launch vehicles capable of carrying up to 1 tonne of payload into Earth orbit.
According to news from Ukrinform, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted a license to SpaceX for the second test launch of the Starship rocket system.
