In my opinion there are two user profiles for which this JBL SPINNER BT is intendedand I’m sure the former will feel directly challenged by the definition of it as tocats. Many of the youngest people won’t know this, but in the 1980s it became popular to label turntables this way, and the term gained such popularity that it eventually became the name for one of the most famous TVEs. musical shows in history…Toccata, of course.

CDs in the 1990s, Mp3s and similar formats in the first decade of this century, and streaming services in the second would seem to mark the death of vinyl as a musical medium, but in reality it was not, because nostalgia is a strange and charming process of bringing the needle to the beginning of the groove, perfectly imperfect sound (especially when there’s dust, static, etc.)… in short, a number of factors have made the vinyl record very popular to this day, not just among those of us who used it regularly (along with the Walk-man when we were not at home), also of new generations who sometimes discovered it and fell in love with its charm.

Now, technology has evolved substantially in those decades, so it makes all the sense in the world. keep the essence of the format but cover it with more up-to-date technologies which improve the user experience, and this is what the JBL SPINNER BT turntable offers us, a turntable with a fairly classic aesthetic (except for one element that I will comment on later and which I was quite interested in), but that it has a wireless connection.

You probably already deduced this from its name, This JBL Spinner BT has Bluetooth connectivitywhich allows us to enjoy its signal on any compatible device: headphones, speakers, etc. In this way, and this seems particularly practical to me, we can forget about cables to connect to speakers or an amplifier, which significantly facilitates its placement and, moreover, its aesthetic folder.

To ensure sound quality, JBL opted for aptX-HD encoding, a technological solution that supports up to 24-bit/48kHz, in addition, it has systems to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and guarantee truly low latency. However, for purists who prefer a wired connection, it also features an analog output with a replaceable moving magnet phono stage allowing use with traditional component audio systems or active speaker systems.

To read the JBL SPINNER BT disc uses a high quality aluminum toner topped with a removable head which we can therefore remove and conveniently replace the movable magnetic cartridge that is responsible for tracking the groove by reading its contents. In addition to guaranteeing adequate reproduction of the recording, this results in greater care for the vinyl we play with it, a key factor especially for collectors.

Regarding its design, as you can see in the pictures It is quite attractive and very much in line with the classic models.although I was interested, as I hinted earlier, that instead of the standard 33 and 45 RPM switch, it has two large buttons on the front left side, one for each speed.

The JBL SPINNER BT will go on sale in December, on the brand’s website, in two color combinations, Black & Orange and Black & Gold, and will be priced at 399.99 euros.
