In the near future, the European Union labor market will need approximately 1.5 million specialists in fields related to the “green transition” and 11 million IT workers – they will be recruited from outside the EU.

This was announced by Kun Nomdan, head of the European Commission’s group on transparency and recognition of skills and qualifications, in Chapter IV, the Ukrinform correspondent reported. It was stated during an online talk at the International Forum “Human Capital: Skills for the Future”.

He noted that the labor market in Europe faces significant challenges related to the impact of the geopolitical situation, the competitiveness of the workforce, development and innovation opportunities and the “green transition”.

“So new skills are needed. At the EU level, we say that 1 to 1.5 million jobs will be needed, especially with “green” skills. We also talk about the fact that the development of IT technologies requires appropriate specialists. “Tomorrow, 11 million such specialists are missing in Europe “It will stay,” he said.

He explained that the population of European countries is aging and this is also changing the situation in the labor market. “This affects Europe’s economic development opportunities. That is why a new package of decisions on increasing mobility, skills, talents and abilities has been adopted. The European Commission has introduced specific normative provisions on the attraction and development of talent, especially in relation to workers from third countries. adopted three new initiatives. We also have a proposal that will contribute to the better participation of citizens of countries outside the European Commission, which will give them more opportunities to find employment. I think this will be an opportunity for Ukrainian citizens,” said the representative of the European Commission.

At the same time, he noted that since the issue is to attract people from outside the EU, the problem of recognizing their qualifications also arises.

“Hence the European Commission’s proposal to improve and improve the qualification recognition procedure. That is why we are talking about the need to further develop the National Qualifications Framework in Ukraine and better coordinate it with the European framework.” he emphasized.

As reported, the results of the “All-European survey on Ukrainians in Europe”, conducted in July by the sociology group “Rating”, show that 49% of refugees who came to the EU from our country after the start of large-scale occupation are employed in the Russian Federation. And among those who came to the European Union before, the rate is 74%.

According to the latest data from Eurostat, 4 million 186 thousand people who have left Ukraine since the beginning of the all-out war have temporary protection status in EU countries.
