Today we were expecting an event with a big announcement about Unreal Engine 5, not Tomb Raider, and it really was. We did not expect the announcement of the game, which is being developed with that platform, to end up overshadowing the main announcement. But of course it’s better understood when we know we’re talking about a Lara Croft franchise, and that Crystal Dynamics confirmed at the event that they are already working on another part of Tomb Raiderand that they chose Unreal Engine 5 for this purpose. Expectations at this point are clearly very high.
There was no further information about this new Tomb Raider. the first in almost four years which have passed since the launch of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which came out in 2018 and which culminates in a trilogy initiated by Tomb Raider and its sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider. For almost four years, it seems likely that the studio set in motion its latest titles, most notably Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and thought about how to improve some of the shadows we saw in the title, which wasn’t bad at all.
He did not provide us with any further information about the title in development. We don’t know the name, the release date, much less the plot. In addition, they didn’t even show us a single picture. However, knowing that this new Tomb Raider will be based on Unreal Engine 5 already tells us that it will be a real nexg-gene, although we can expect high technical demands, especially if we want to play it with advanced graphics modes.
However, as I said, the announcement of this new Tomb Raider, about which we still know nothing, overshadowed an event hosted by Epic Games to announce that it was finally Unreal Engine 5 is available to all developers who want to use it. And in Epic, they decided not to attend the announcement themselves, on the contrary, at some point the event showed a picture with the logos of companies that are already developing in Unreal Engine 5. Judge for yourself:

Epic Games has also released to help developers learn more about what’s new in Unreal Engine 5 a game created with that environment and customizableThis will allow you to play with the 100% Unreal Engine 5 title and, as it is designed for this purpose, will most likely take advantage of much of the new features of this new version of Epic’s Games development environment.
As for what to expect from the platform chosen for the future new Tomb Raider title, Epic Games has already shown us some progress, among which I prefer the Matrix Awakens, a playable demo for the PlayStation 5, which many have left with their mouths open.
