The PlayStation Network servers said The Last of Us Part II in its PS5 version, suggesting that the said title could arrive on Sony’s current console earlier than expected. Yes, I know what you’re thinking, this game has been available on said console for a long time, and yes, you’re right, but it’s a half-truth because it’s actually a PS4 game that’s compatible with PS5.

I’m talking about a version developed natively to run on the PS5 and thus make much better use of the hardware of the said console. We don’t have any more details about it, only that this PS5 version of The Last of Us Part II is real and that it might hit the market sooner than expected. Obviously, one can expect the inclusion of significant improvements compared to the native PS4 game and Among the most important changes we should find the following (on a technical level):

  • Improved geometry that would give us better modeling of characters, settings and objects.
  • Better textures.
  • 4K resolution, native or upscaled.
  • Modes at 30 and 60 FPS, the former with higher graphics quality than the latter.
  • Improved lighting and shadow effects.

The Last of Us Part II could also come to PC

I do not speak without reason, remember that at that time an improved version of the first part also arrived on PC, known as The Last of Us Part I, although it is true that Its launch took place a little after the PS5 versionso in this case we could find ourselves in the same scenario, i.e. first The Last of Us Part II would arrive in a native version on PS5 and then we would see a version adapted for PC.

Based on what we saw in The Last of Us Part I, we can expect significant graphical improvements as well as support for AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS upscaling technology. However, Fluid Motion Frames and Frame Generation can be left out, and I don’t think we should expect ray tracing to be used either, unless there is a very modest implementation that the PS5 is able to move without drowning.

As for the requirements, although nothing is definitive yet, I think if it finally comes to PC, we can wait. requirements similar to those of The Last of Us Part I, a title whose optimization was conspicuous by its absence, as many of our readers will remember. We hope that the situation will not repeat itself with this second volume.
