Google introduces a new “Notes” feature for search results

Google has launched a new Notes feature in the Search app that allows users to add their own annotations to search results they find online. Additionally, Google has released a number of other announcements, which we will review below.

Google now lets you annotate search results via Notes

The Notes feature provides users with a personal space where they can record their thoughts and findings on specific search topics. These notes are not private; It is accessible to anyone searching for the same topic. Google believes this approach can add “a useful layer of human knowledge to search results.”

Because Notes can be indexed on the open web, users will be able to share them not only through search results but also through direct email links. To use this feature, the user must first enable this feature through Search Labs. Once enabled, buttons for adding and viewing notes will appear below search results and articles.

You can customize your Notes with colorful fonts and images for a more attractive look. You can also go to any Google search page and check notes posted by others. The initial release of Notes will be limited to users in the US and India. Google is also looking at ways to provide publishers with information derived from annotations in their content.

Follow search topics with the “Subscribe” feature

In addition to Notes, Google has also introduced a new “Track” feature that allows users to track specific searches. Upon request, users will receive bulk updates and notifications about events related to their selected topics. The Subscribe feature will initially be available in US English in the Google app and in Chrome and Safari mobile browsers.

Additional search improvements

Google also announced improvements to its Perspectives feature, which incorporates content from social networks and forums into search results to expand the range of perspectives represented.

Perspectives will be available on a desktop search engine in the US and will include more information about individual creators, such as profile images and follower counts.
