Starting in 2024, Amazon will let buyers buy a new car online and then pick it up or have it delivered to a local dealer.
Customers will be able to search for available vehicles in their area, make a selection, and then pay on Amazon using their preferred payment method.
The first cars available for purchase will be cars from the South Korean company Hyundai.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said the partnership with Hyundai will transform “the ease with which customers can purchase vehicles online.”
As part of the deal, Hyundai will also include Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant in its vehicles starting in 2025.
In the past, people could buy automotive products such as spare parts through Amazon.
