Javier Miley, Argentina’s presidential candidate was booed on Friday night after the public became aware of his presence during a performance opera “Madama Butterfly” at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
The candidate was accompanied by his wife Fatima Flores and was booed during intermission with chants of “Never again” due to his denial of the crimes of the military dictatorship.
“Come on, bullshit, you’re a dictatorship,” it began to sound, at first almost like a murmur, and then it grew.
Some of orchestra musicians joined the choir and they even sang a few bars of a Peronist march, the Pagina 12 newspaper reported.
Also part of the public tried lukewarm support from Miley and finally the work could continue.
Miley posted several videos and messages on his X (formerly Twitter) account saying the candidate was booed by a minority. (Europe Press)
