The 11th generation iPad, 7th generation iPad Mini and 6th generation iPad Air are expected to arrive at the end of the first quarter of 2024. Meanwhile, higher-end Pro models may arrive later. It is said that Apple will use OLED screens in its new generation iPads. Now a new report has revealed some new details about the seventh-generation iPad Mini, as well as other details.
iPad Mini, Air and MacBook OLED Surface Launch Schedules
Apple appears to be trying to move to OLED displays on its MacBooks and iPads in the coming years. We have already seen that the company switched to USB-C in its product portfolio with the iPhone 15 series this year. The Cupertino-based technology giant also applied its own silicon chipsets to Mac and iPad models.
Apple’s iPad uses LCD screens. There are rumors that next year’s iPad Pro may switch from a mini LED display to OLED panels. Although the transition will begin in the 2024 iPad Pro, according to a new development, Apple may expand the use of OLED screens to iPad Mini and iPad Air in 2026. It is also said that the screen size of the old model will be increased. from the current 8.3 inches to 8.7 inches.
The report also states that there will be differences in screen performance in the OLED models of iPad Pro, iPad Air and iPad Mini. The flagship Pro variants will use LTPO technology along with ProMotion, while the Air and Mini models will use a single-stack LTPS OLED panel. Additionally, the iPad Air with a 12.9-inch screen will also have an OLED panel, but will be released in 2027. The same model with an LCD screen is expected to be released next year.
The report suggests that Apple will switch to OLED panels in MacBooks with the 16-inch Pro model starting from 2025, in addition to the iPad. This will also include 13, 14 and 15-inch MacBook models by 2026.
