The tech world is relying on AI, which has been unstoppable for a long time. That’s why Amazon Web Services is launching the AI Ready initiative.

Amazon’s American AWS launches the AI Ready project this week. This is an initiative that aims to teach no fewer than two million people how to use artificial intelligence.

Every age

AI Ready consists of courses, scholarships, and a partnership with code.org, a website where people can learn to code. The goal is to prepare two million people for lucrative careers focused on generative AI. The initiative has an ambitious deadline of 2025.

The project is primarily aimed at developers and other technology professionals, but AWS is also aimed at youth and also targets high school and college students. Amazon will distribute $12 million through 50,000 scholarships from the American educational organization Udacity. These are aimed at pupils and students from disadvantaged areas around the world.

Together with code.org, AWS will offer coding lessons for students and teachers from kindergarten through high school in early December. This is in celebration of American Computer Week.

In addition to these projects, Amazon also offers free courses on cloud computing. By 2025, the company wants to equip no fewer than 29 million people worldwide with the necessary skills.

Lesson package

The following developer and technical profile training courses are available for free through AWS Skill Builder:

  • Basic prompt engineering
  • Low-code machine learning on AWS
  • Building language models on AWS
  • Get started with Amazon Transcribe
  • Building generative AI applications with Amazon Bedrock

Students and beginners can learn these things for free on Amazon:

  • Introduction to generative AI
  • Generative AI curriculum for decision makers
  • Introducing Amazon CodeWhisperer

According to a survey by Amazon, almost three quarters of relevant employers are looking for AI talent and that is not easy at the moment. This is a door opener, but it is positive that many people now have this opportunity.

It is not yet known whether Amazon’s own LLM Olympus will also be under discussion. The company is also investing in AI on a purely commercial basis, with Anthropic recently raising $4 billion from Amazon.
