Ukrainian Internet providers continue to switch to energy-saving networks and prepare for possible outages. 158,000 new subscribers were connected to the xPON technology network, which provides light-free internet for up to 72 hours,
Mykhailo Fedorov said.

According to him, to connect to the network using xPON technology you need:

• check with your provider whether they are ready to provide internet without electricity and for how many hours;
• If the answer doesn’t suit you, find the closest one and apply for a connection;

State Special Communications explained that in case of outages it is worth checking whether the Internet provider provides uninterrupted power supply to its equipment.

For example, energy-saving xPON networks are the most stable. If your ISP uses Ethernet technology, make sure it can power your home router during outages. Homeowners in an apartment building can jointly purchase an uninterruptible power supply and install it after agreement with the provider. You also need to purchase a power bank for the Wi-Fi router in the apartment.

• Do not overuse mobile internet during outages, because the load on the base stations of mobile communications will depend on how long they can operate independently. People were asked not to watch videos or download large files so someone could send an important message or call 911.
