The Ministry of Digital Transformation explained the most effective technologies that will help provide internet access during power outages.

The relevant information was published by the ministry on: Telegram.

“We have learned from providers the most effective ways to secure the internet during outages. This will be useful to Ukrainians who use different types of internet at home and will allow you to stay connected from 4 to 72 hours,” the statement said.

To be able to work and communicate during possible outages, experts recommend using one of the leading Internet connection technologies: xPON, FTTx, DOCSIS or xDSL.

xPON lets you stay connected for the longest time, with up to 72 hours of power-free operation. It’s a fiber optic connection, but its capabilities are currently only available to half (52.2%) of users. The vast majority of Ukrainians (71.4%) can stay on the network, with access provided via telephone cable. But in this case the duration of business support is significantly shorter – up to 8 hours.

The Ministry of Statistics recommends that you ask the provider in advance which technology is suitable for your household.

Reportedly, as of mid-November, 10,945 “invincibility points” were in operation across Ukraine, with a further 2,356 points created and ready to open. They must be equipped with generators and additional heating means, have stable internet access, and have sufficient reserves of fuel and lubricants for uninterrupted operation of the generators.
