AMD RDNA 4 will be a bet on the most economical graphics cards

The RDNA 4 architecture will be AMD’s next step in the graphics sector, and everything indicates that the Sunnyvale giant with it it repeats the strategy we saw with the RDNA architecture. This was mainly aimed at the mid- and high-end, which we can consider entry-level, but not at more powerful models, because no model that could compete with the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti came to the market.

For some, this approach may seem like a mistake, since AMD would leave NVIDIA alone in the high-end market and would have no model to compete with NVIDIA’s more powerful graphics cards in its new generation, which of course would moment , we know him as Blackwell, but the truth is this may end in success for two big reasons, which I’ll explain below.

The first reason is that with RDNA 4, the AMD team was able to launch a set of graphics cards focused on the price/performance ratio, precisely according to the same strategy we saw with the Radeon RX 5000. Covering the mid-range and entry-level high-end with this approach would allow you to stay competitive without making major sacrifices, and that brings us to the second reason.

RDNA 4 review RDNA 3

If everything we’ve seen so far is confirmed, I think this strategy on AMD’s part with RDNA 4 would give it more space for further work on the development of the new architecture which allows you to design high-performance GPU cores that can once again compete with NVIDIA at the top. Just remember what happened with the Radeon RX 5000 and the huge surprise we all experienced with the Radeon RX 6000, the last generation that was enormously competitive in performance and consumption as well as price.

In short, everything we’ve seen suggests that it will repeat the scene we saw when RDNA came out and later with RDNA 2. In this way, RDNA 4 should be a transitional generation to AMD’s “mainstream”, which would be RDNA 5. However, it is very likely that we will find mid-range graphics cards that offer performance similar to Radeon RX 7900 with a lower price.
