The Japanese government has confirmed that an “object” launched by North Korea earlier this week, which Pyongyang calls a reconnaissance satellite, is orbiting Earth.
This was stated by Japanese Defense Minister Minoru Kihara, Kyodo reported, Ukrinform reported.
According to Kihara, this result was reached as a result of analysis and evaluations made in cooperation with the USA and South Korea.
He added that Japan, together with its allies, will continue to analyze whether the facility has been working since its opening.
As noted, in May, on the eve of North Korea’s first satellite launch attempt, Japan’s defense forces were ordered to shoot down any projectiles that had the potential to land on the country’s territory, using Patriot RAS-3 land-based interceptor missiles and destroyers. It is equipped with Aegis missile defense systems ยป (Aegis).
Considering the high probability of North Korea launching new missiles, Kihara noted that the Ministry of Defense will decide whether to extend or cancel the order after analyzing and evaluating all data.
On the US Space Force’s website, the North Korean satellite is given a separate number; This means that Washington recognizes that this device has entered Earth orbit.
However, the US Department of Defense said it was still analyzing whether North Korea was successful in launching the satellite.
The United States, Japan and South Korea believe that North Korea, under the pretext of launching a space satellite, is testing a new long-range intercontinental ballistic missile whose launch technology is the same as that used in launch vehicles.
As reported by Ukrinform, North Korea announced that it has successfully launched a spy satellite into Earth orbit and plans to launch several more such spacecraft in the near future to secure its intelligence capabilities.
Ukraine, Japan, South Korea, and the United States and other Western countries strongly condemned such a launch using ballistic technology and called for an end to any actions that threaten peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and around the world.
