The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation announced a federal wanted list for Andy Stone, press secretary of the Meta company, which includes Facebook and Instagram.

Ukrinform reported that Mediazona reported this based on data from the ministry’s database.

The publication notes that the sought-after card appeared in the database in February of this year, but attention was only now drawn to it.

It is stated that one of the Russian courts decided to arrest Stone in absentia under the article on aiding terrorism (part 2 of article 205.1 of the Criminal Code) in mid-November 2023.

Based on this article, on March 11, 2022, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation filed a lawsuit over Meta’s decision not to block Facebook and Instagram users who called for the “death of Russian invaders.” On the same day, the impact of the new rules was limited only to Ukrainian territory.

In its press release on the criminal case, the Russian agency mentioned the name of Stone, who announced the Meta innovation on the X social network.

Even before the change in user rules, Facebook was blocked in Russia on March 4, 2022, and access to Instagram was restricted on March 14. The Moscow Tver District Court recognized Meta as an “extremist organization”, but this did not affect the operation of WhatsApp messengers.

According to Ukrinform, in September the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that the head of the International Criminal Court Pyotr Hofmanskyi, his deputy Luz Del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza and judge Bertram Schmitt were wanted.
