After selling data online, General Electric is investigating a possible cyberattack to identify stolen data.
Earlier this month, a hacker said he would soon sell network access to General Electric (GE) and other stolen data. Since the end of last week, the data has been available for sale online, including access (SSH, SVN), SQL files, documents and military contract information.
As evidence of the theft, the hacker placed numerous screenshots in the online post with data from, among other things, the GE Aviations databases.
In a response via BleepingComputer, the GE spokesperson confirms that it has noted the hacker’s related claims. “We are aware of claims made by a malicious actor regarding GE data and are investigating these claims. We will take appropriate measures to help protect the integrity of our systems.”
GE does not confirm that an attack occurred. However, the hacker IntelBroker has a reliable history of making claims about cyberattacks at large companies. We now have to wait for GE to release more information if it is affected.
