As you may remember, Elon Musk commented on a publication in which it was claimed that Jews were guilty of “inciting hatred against whites”. He wrote that this was the “real truth” that infuriated thousands of people around the world. Apple, IBM, Disney, Lionsgate, Warner Bros., Paramount, Discovery, Comcast/NBC Universal immediately stopped working with the company and are no longer advertising on the X platform. Meanwhile, stars such as Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift also stopped posting. Visa, Mastercard, Etsy, Adobe and McDonald’s also joined them. Most of the last tweets appeared between November 13-17.
Did Elon Musk go to apologize?
According to the source, Musk will first meet with Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog. The Duke’s office made the announcement on Sunday evening, saying: “During the meeting, the president will emphasize the need to take measures to combat increasing anti-Semitism on the Internet.”.
The billionaire will later meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Both last met on September 18. Netanyahu called for a balance between protecting freedom of expression and combating hate speech after weeks of controversy over anti-Semitic content on X. In response, Musk repeated his previous statements, saying he opposes anti-Semitism and anything that “promotes hatred and conflict.” That X will not promote hate speech. However, he did not keep his promise.
Musk’s visit coincides with a four-day ceasefire in Israel’s war with Palestinian militant Hamas in Gaza; Meanwhile, 40 of the 240 hostages that Israel said were held by Hamas returned to Israel. Videos of Musk visiting Kfar Az, where terrorists killed more than 200 people, including babies, can already be found online.
It’s unclear whether Musk’s move is an attempt to win back advertisers by displaying some kind of redemption.
