As with other Google services such as Android Auto, the American firm is leaving behind very old versions of the operating system and Most apps no longer have official update support With the latest developments added over time.
Unfortunately, the latest addition to this long list is Google Calendar. The most used calendar applications in the world and it will now stop working on versions before Android 8.0 Oreo, which is bad news for users who use mobile phones that have been on the market for a long time and do not need to replace them.
If you have a Xiaomi with versions lower than Android 8.0, Google Calendar will stop working for you.
In this case, as far as we can read on TheSpAndroid, Google seems to have made the following decision: increase the minimum requirements for your calendar app From Android 5.0 Lollipop to Android 8.0 Oreo, so the change is pretty drastic as both versions are three years apart.
This is the message that Google will tell you that Google Calendar will stop working
For now, Google hasn’t announced this change yet, but the latest version of Google Calendar already includes Android Oreo as the minimum version; if they have lower versions they will be stuck at Google Calendar 44.0 and after that you won’t be able to enjoy any more updates and it will eventually stop working.
In fact, we have already seen in some leaks that the message that Google will use to announce this decision will consist of the following information: “Your Android version is no longer supported. Please update your operating system to continue using Google Calendar.”
As we told you for now Google has not made this announcement official so that we can continue to enjoy Google Calendar on older devices, but if you use this service a lot in your daily life and have a mobile phone with versions before Android 8.0, you will probably have to say goodbye in the short term.
