Under the conditions of American sanctions, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the Chinese giant Huawei Technologies to expand in the world market and produce modern electronics, so the company is increasingly considering license cuts as an additional source of income since the US sanctions. and allies are not yet applied to this region. This week, the Japanese company Sharp joined Huawei’s partners in the licensing of communication technologies.

This week Huawei and Sharp started with a succinct announcement of the signing of a long-term cross-licensing agreement for technologies related to cellular communications standards, including 4G and 5G. According to representatives of the Chinese giant, the agreement was reached as a result of friendly negotiations. The agreement allows the parties to recognize each other’s intellectual property rights and simplify work in the field of standardization. “Advanced technical standards improve user experience, promote competition, and reduce the cost of devices and services,” said Alan Fan, head of Huawei’s intellectual property department.

Sharp representatives added that the cross-licensing agreement with Huawei was signed on reasonable and fair terms that do not discriminate against either party. As you may remember, Huawei Technologies signed licensing agreements with Xiaomi and Ericsson this year and in the past started to transfer licenses for the use of 5G communication technologies to its competitors in the smartphone segment, Samsung Electronics and Oppo.
