Chinese company Huawei said it has successfully tested a satellite internet similar to SpaceX’s Starlink system. The details were shared by the chief scientist of Huawei 6G Wireless Technology Laboratory at an event for the development of aerospace information technologies; Made in Chongqing (China). According to the presentation, Huawei’s satellite internet was able to provide download speeds of up to 660 Mbit/s.

Huawei did not disclose which satellites were used to build its network. They are only known to be placed in low Earth orbit (like Starlink). China has recently reportedly launched its own satellites of this type that may have provided satellite communications for Huawei.

Of course, the Chinese company will need time to create a full-fledged network similar to Starlink, and despite successful tests, it is not known exactly when it will be operational. Meanwhile, the flagship smartphone Huawei Mate 60 Pro+, introduced in September, already has satellite communication support.
