2 out of 3 companies are concerned about extreme data growth

A survey shows that data management compliance is the top concern, followed by concern that data growth is getting out of control.

In a Cloudera survey of 850 European organizations with more than 1,000 employees, almost two-thirds (63%) of respondents believe that siled data makes it difficult for them to comply with data compliance regulations.

Many companies use multiple solutions to manage data throughout its lifecycle. However, this adds complexity: 79 percent of IT decision makers say that integrating data analytics and management solutions has made compliance more difficult.

Data management compliance is the top concern for 79 percent of all respondents. In addition, two-thirds (66%) of them fear that data growth is getting out of control.

Higher cost

More than three-quarters (78%) of IT decision makers surveyed for this study believe that integrating sub-solutions for data analysis and management has increased data costs. Almost everyone (99%) agrees that integrating different solutions required for data management across the entire lifecycle is challenging.

A third (34%) think it is a “significant challenge”. This means that organizations now spend more than a quarter (28%) of their annual IT budget on lifecycle data management.

“As data volumes continue to grow, compliance is becoming a major challenge for more and more organizations,” said Chris Royles, EMEA Field CTO at Cloudera. “Innovations like AI also increase complexity and with upcoming regulations it will become increasingly difficult to remain compliant.” Companies would do well to view data as a product and protect it by ensuring compliance is possible anytime, anywhere .”
