Google Play Vice President and CEO Sam Bright today announced the winners of the Google Play Best of 2023 Awards. The company published an overview of the most popular apps and games on Google Play on its blog. Following the latest trends, categories were created for apps that use the latest technology (“Best with AI” and “Best Game for Good”) and awarded apps that worked well on a wide range of devices.

Since the success of Google Play directly depends on developers, its application store has been actively developing and updating over the past year. New tools have been introduced, app usability has been increased, monetization has been simplified, and privacy has been improved.

“To support this entire community, we’ve made a lot of improvements to the Play Store this year. For example, we’ve made it easier to find everything Play has to offer, including across different device types. In the Best in AI category, AI Character: AI-Powered Chat won and the ChatGPT chatbot received an honorable mention. Paw Patrol Academy, an application for young children with educational and development missions, received the Best for Families award, while LEGO DUPLO DISNEY received the incentive award. The title of “Best App for Good” was awarded to AWorld in support of ActNow, the UN’s initiative to save planet Earth.

WhatsApp Messenger was recognized as the best app for a smartwatch, and AllTrails: Hike, Bike & Run received incentive awards from Audible: Audio Entertainment. Concepts: Sketch, Note, Drawing was the winner in the “Best for Tablets” category, and Canva: Design, Photography and Video, Everand: E-books and audiobooks received incentive awards.

FlipaClip: Create 2D Animation won Best for Chromebook, while Evernote’s notes editor and Wideo’s animation app received honorable mentions. In the Best of Google TV category, Max: Stream HBO went to the TV and Movies streaming app. Amazon Prime Video, Crunchyroll, Disney+, Tubi: Movies & Live TV received honorable mention. The top car app was Amazon Prime Video, while Beach Buggy Racing and Spotify were also mentioned.

While the best multiplayer game of 2023 was Farlight 84, incentive awards were given to Arena Breakout, Call of Dragons, MARVEL SNAP, Undawn. The best game of the Pick Up & Play genre, MONOPOLY GO!
