The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) said on Wednesday that hackers gained access to its computer system. They fear a possible leak of personal data of employees and other people.
This was reported by NHK, as reported by Ukrinform.
JAXA, together with the Ministry of Science and Technology, said that the seized server was not connected to missile and satellite control networks. They claim it is unlikely that confidential data, such as information regarding the operation of the missiles, would be leaked.
Agency officials said that they learned about the cyber attack from a third-party organization, and that the attackers probably gained access to some data.
According to knowledgeable sources, the hacked server contained more than 5,000 files of personal data, including JAXA management and employees.
JAXA and related organizations are currently determining the extent of damage and the methods used to carry out the attack.
The agency announced that the investigation is ongoing and measures are being implemented to prevent further attacks.
Let us remind you that the United States, South Korea and Japan agreed to form a high-level cyber advisory group to counter North Korea’s criminal cyber activities.
